With a drive to explore the most intimate and expressive corners of a musical life, Wyatt Rydlewski pursues his professional creative undertakings with the values of versatility, love, pocket, taste, humor, and authenticity. A multi-instrumentalist specializing in the bass register, Wyatt has performed and created with an ever growing community of artists including Adam Duritz(Counting Crows), Nels Cline(Wilco), Nathan Hardy(Microwave), Timalikesmusic, Jerk, Human Zoo, Machinery of the Human Heart, Will Wood, and more. Wyatt’s musical trajectory has been anything but linear, beginning as a first-call bassist in the New Jersey DIY music scene in his formative years and zig-zagging in pursuit of the richest, and most diverse musical communities he could be a part of. Through his work as a touring/recording musician, producer, composer, and artist, Wyatt’s work has led him all over the United States, as well as Central America and the Middle East. Wyatt defies stylistic limitations, enjoying his work with artists of many genres and backgrounds.
As an educator, Wyatt is meticulous in his approach to guiding students of any level along the path to musical self-actualization through developing fundamental skills, creativity, and personal philosophy. Wyatt sees his mission of music education as one of the highest honors he can carry out. Wyatt values excellence, love, and one’s spiritual connection to their personal mode of creativity. Wyatt’s own educational journey has led him to study with highly respected mentors such as Chris Morrissey(Sara Barelles, Mark Guiliana, Andrew Bird), Jonathan Maron(Maxwell), Evan Marien, and more, as well as the faculty at William Paterson University, where he received his Degree in Piano Performance and Music Education.
In addition to music, Wyatt lives a multi-disciplinary creative existence through acting, storytelling, poetry, essay-writing, spirituality, philosophy, and visual art.
